ELITE AFL physical preparation programs

SPEED, STRENGTH & CONDITIONING prograMS that has direct transfer to game day

STRENGTH IS YOUR FOUNDATION

Strength is the foundational physical quality that underpins almost every athletic movement in football.

Acceleration. Sprinting. Jumping. Change direction. Tackling.

All of these actions rely on the ability to produce force into the ground.

The stronger you are, the greater your capacity to absorb and generate force.

This also allows more potential to move faster and be more explosive.

Strength also plays a major role in:

• Improving running economy
• Increasing resistance to fatigue
• Enhancing durability across a long season
• Supporting repeat high-intensity efforts

Put simply, strength is the engine that drives athletic performance.

Without a solid strength foundation, your ability to develop speed and power will always be limited, and your resilience to injury may be become problematic.

STRENGTH is only one piece of the puzzle

Building strength alone isn’t enough.

It’s one thing to be strong in the gym.

It’s another thing to be able to express that strength on the field.

Strength only becomes valuable when it can be applied quickly, explosively and in the right direction.

This is where running mechanics and speed and power development comes in.

Training must bridge the gap between building strength and expressing it at speed.

Helping athletes turn the strength developed in the gym into faster and more explosive athletes on the field, is the ultimate goal.

developing speed, power & explosiveness

If you want to become faster and more explosive, you need to move fast.

While strength creates the potential for speed and power, the body must also learn to produce force rapidly.

If you don't use it, you lose it. And If you don't train it, you certainly won't improve it.

This is why frequent speed and power training is essential.

The single best way to develop speed is simple:

Move fast - Sprint, Jump, Accelerate, Decelerate and Change Direction with maximal intent!

Mechanics and technique certainly play a role, but ultimately the body becomes faster by repeatedly performing fast, explosive movements.

Training that combines strength, speed and power helps athletes:

• Accelerate faster
• Produce more explosive movements
• Improve sprint performance
• Increase on-field power

The goal is simple - build strength — then learn to use it.

AVAILABILITY IS YOUR BEST ABILITY!

It doesn’t matter how strong, fast or powerful you are if you can’t stay on the field.

Football places enormous stress on the body, so training must prepare athletes to withstand the rigours of the game.

This program includes targeted resilience work designed to strengthen common injury sites such as the hamstrings, calves and groin.

The goal of this program isn’t simply to get stronger in the gym.

It’s to develop a complete football athlete.

An athlete who is:

• Strong enough to win the ball and keep their feet
• Explosive enough to sprint, accelerate and change direction repeatedly
• Durable enough to handle the demands of a long season

When strength, speed and durability are developed together, the result is a footballer who is faster, more powerful and more resilient on the field.
